Or in this case, the outfit for the clothes! Let's be honest, how many of us reach for the same "outfit every single day? The one that will "just do" or the one that you don't have to put much thought into because you can't actually see what you have even though your poor wardrobe is bursting!! And what feeling do you get from wearing those clothes? Do they uplift you, give you a spring in your step, help you walk into a room with confidence? Or do they make you feel a bit "meh", make you blend into the background and ingrain that feeling of being more invisible than you already feel? I'm sure we have all been there at one point or another in our lives!
It's always at this time of year, as we transition from our autumn/winter wardrobe to our spring/summer wardrobe, that we get a better look at our wardrobe and it's contents to make apparent our lack of or abundance of clothes......but yet still nothing to wear. Nothing shows up more when you are trying to find something to wear because the sun has made an appearance!
In recent weeks I have been busy visiting clients to help them sort out their wardrobes. Time and time again I hear "I have a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear". This can be for many reasons but most of the time it comes down to these things:
Not understanding what colours they look their best in
Not understanding what styles suit their body shape and proportions
Not understanding what fabrics/patterns work best for them
Not understanding how to dress for their style personality
Buying duplicates of what they already have (who needs 8 black jumpers anyway?!! lol!)
There's no point sorting out your wardrobe if all you are going to do is repeat all of the above in the following season..... but if you took the time and invested in learning all about you and the styles and colours that suit you, together we can curate a wardrobe of clothes that work for you whilst also removing the stress you feel when choosing the day's outfit.
My top tips for curating a wardrobe that works for you:
Know your best shades of colour. You will look instantly radiant, smoothing your complexion and help your eyes twinkle even brighter
Understand what styles suit your body shape/proportions
Understand which fabrics/patterns work for you
Understand your style personality. This helps you to shop in the right places so you buy only what works for you and avoids overwhelm.
Buy key pieces for your wardrobe so you can mix and match. You will buy less and wear more often.
So on that note, I am off to sort out my wardrobes (dressing room) and live in hope that the sun will become more of permanent feature in the days ahead.
If you need help curating a wardrobe that works for you please get in touch with me and let me help you. I will remove the overwhelm and leave you with a wardrobe of clothes that excite you and make you feel happy and confident (and a shopping list of what you need to add,if applicable).
